Week 5 Game Recap

Week 5 saw a minor reshuffle of the divisions which meant both of our Otters teams had 2 games instead of 1. Otters 1

In the first matchup of the week, Otters 1 took on Les Gaulois and sustained their first shutout loss of the season. Les Gaulois looked like a team that had been playing together for years with their beautiful jerseys and even prettier cycle game. In the end, Otters 1 fell 8-0.

The second game of the week went better for Otters 1, though the score paints a different picture. Losing 10-1 against the Diggers may sound like a worse fate but the game played out very differently. The Diggers had their legs under them from the beginning going up 5-0 very early in the first and really holding the play. However, as the game went on, Otters 1 got stronger and stronger getting many quality scoring opportunities and pressing hard on the forecheck. The Diggers goalie made some big saves to keep his shutout alive, but Korie would not be denied, scoring the only Otters goal in the second period on a beautiful deke.

Otters 2

For the first matchup of the week in the Otters 2 schedule they faced off against the Moosehead Loggers. The game had a lot of back-and-forth chances with the Moosehead Loggers capitalizing on most of their chances and Otters 2 being on the wrong side of a few bounces. In the end, Otters 2 fell 9-1.

Game 2 pitted Otters 2 against the Flying Zambonis and it was a very similar story to the Otters 1 vs Diggers game with the Flying Zambonis coming out ...flying. Although Otters 2 had a strong pushback in the second period they simply could not beat the goaltender and lost 10-1.

Next Games: Otters 1 will take on the Flying Zambonis in a dreaded 11 pm game while Otters 2 match up against Les Gaulois at 8 pm.
